Ginataang Tilapia is one of the dishes that all Filipino are craving for. It is cooked in coconut milk and it is served with pepper that is used for sinigang . It is popularized by the Bicolanos, the fifth-largest Filipino group that lives in the southern islands of Luzon.
Try this simple recipe .
Ingredients:
3 pcs medium size Tilapia cleaned
1pc siling haba
1 onion finely sliced
2 cloves garlic crushed
1 bulb ginger cut in strips
3/ 4 cup coconut cream ( 1st extraction)
7pcs large petchay leaves
salt and pepper to taste
3tbsp. vinegar
1 tbsp. fish sauce
oil
Procedures:
- Saute onion , garlic, ginger in hot oil
- Pour in the coconut cream and stir until natural oil from the coconut cream comes out add fish sauce ,vinegar and salt .
- Lower the heat and put the tilapia , siling haba and simmer for nine minutes or until cooked
- Add the petchay on top and simmer for about a minute.
